Q: Welcome to The Writer's Life, Catherine Doughty, MS, CCHI.  Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?

A: Yes, I am a Director in a Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging in one of the largest health science center’s in the world as well as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and an award winning author.

Q: Can you please tell us about your book and why you wrote it?

A: The book, Breast Cancer!  You’re kidding…right?  Living Life Through The Prism Of Uncertainty And Having A Good Time, is a lifesaving strategy that utilizes scientific methodology for individuals who are dealing with uncertainty from a breast cancer diagnosis.  It is for anyone with any stage of breast cancer who needs to make life threatening and lifesaving decisions in uncertain decision spaces that require tools, criteria solution matrices, discussion documents and how to implement them.  I’ve integrated my personal story throughout the book and how I used the methodology to save my own life.

I designed the book with the principles and elements for success, in response to the emergency requests I received from all the cancer patients whom I voluntarily coached.  So often, they had been crying for days and weeks at a time, many were terrified, and they all had the same question, “Where do I begin to unravel this, and where do I start?”  Hence, the birth of the book, which is loaded with thought provoking strategy to assist anyone with any stage of breast cancer emerge stunning, and get their life back in control while learning how to make decisions in an uncertain decision space and live their life through the prism of uncertainty.  The fascination lies in the simplicity and pure scientific methodology used to provide a complete step by step guide inclusive of treatment scenario planning which is critical to a successful outcome.

Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced writing it?

Honestly, I didn’t have any significant challenges that I faced writing the book.   I did it in response to all of the emergency requests that kept coming to me from cancer patients and their families.  The biggest challenge I faced was designing the front and back covers of the book that would support the books content which is superior, sexy and stunning and one that would go down in history as the most mesmerizing book ever written on the subject.

Breast Cancer!  You’re kidding…right? Living Life Through The Prism Of Uncertainty is literally pulling the curtain back and getting the word out there that there is a clear cut strategy for anyone with any stage of breast cancer needing treatment planning that is on the merits and works with life threatening and lifesaving clinical decision making in uncertain decision spaces to minimize the risk for cancer recurrence.

Ensuring that the book provided perspective and a practical method for selecting an appropriate treatment plan and one that would capture the reader from beginning to end, and make them want to live their life through the prism of uncertainty and have one rocking hot good time. It had to be an adrenaline thrill ride from start to finish, that you cannot put down.
